Civic Joy Corps Parks Volunteering
@ Golden Gate Park
Saturdays, July 12, 19 & 26
The Civic Joy Fund is choosing a new park every month to show some love through the end of the year. This July, we’re bringing together 35 passionate volunteers every Saturday of the month to beautify Arguello Stub, one of the main entrances of historic Kezar Stadium. We’ll be removing invasive plants, planting new trees and shrubs, installing new drip irrigation and sheet mulching to suppress weed growth.
After each session, we’ll enjoy a free lunch to celebrate our efforts and connect with fellow volunteers. We can’t wait to see you there!
All ages and abilities welcome.

Volunteer Roles and Descriptions
We need you to help us keep San Francisco clean. There are various ways that you can support our effort by volunteering to do the work needed to maintain a clean city and to help spread the word about our campaign.
In addition to joining a cleanup, below are descriptions of different roles that you can take on to help move our movement forward. Sign up for any volunteer roles you would like to help with on this Google Form.
Thank you for joining our team!
Join A Cleanup - Join a neighborhood cleanup to help us pick up trash and litter. You can check the Cleanups Page or the Cleanup Map to find upcoming opportunities.
Adopt-A-Street – Be a block captain and help maintain your own street. Join the SF Public Work’s Adopt-A-Street Program to receive cleaning supplies and provide you with best practices to maintain your block.
Cleanup Captain - Learn how to run a cleanup and join the roster of Cleanup Captains. Then sign up to lead cleanups that fits your schedule and availability.
Substitute Cleanup Captain - Sometimes our regular cleanup organizers are unable to lead their scheduled cleanup and we need someone to fill in for them. Sign up to be on a list to be notified when we need a sub.
Tabling – Help us get the word out about Refuse Refuse by running an info table at farmers markets, events, grocery stores, or busy intersections. We’ll teach you best practices and provide all the materials needed.
Post Flyers – Many of our volunteers learned about Refuse Refuse from a flyer posted in their neighborhood. Help us post flyers for to promote upcoming cleanups.
Door Hangers – We distribute info about ways that residents can help keep the city clean. We need help placing door hangers in every neighborhood.
Graphic Design - We have online and print design content that we need on occasion. Lend your design skills to illuminate our cause.
Fundraising – We apply for grants and seek sponsorships to fund our campaign. Join a team of volunteers that helps write grant proposals for various funding opportunities. No prior experience required.
Pocket Gardens – Help grow, plant, and maintain native plants placed in empty plots around San Francisco. We will clean, water, weed, remulch, and care for these pocket gardens.
Dog-Owner Outreach – Dog owners have an extra incentive to keep the streets clean and safe for their pets. If you own a dog, help us spread the word about Refuse Refuse to other dog owners.
Butt-Cans – We repurpose canned good cans into ashtrays that smokers can use to responsibly dispose of their cigarette butts. Help us prepare butt-cans and help place them wherever butts are being littered.
